12/05/2002

I wrote myself a note to write about "Training Routines" in my journal. Well, just about all that's "routine" are the times when we eat. Everything else either changes every day or is new for the day.

I guess, though, in general, speaking broadly, in a vague sense, we have several different types of sessions that we experience several times throughout the training period... Language training is the most regular of these, and also the most useful. We also have diversity, gender, health, administrative and technical sessions on a regular basis. All in all, it's easy to see where each session comes from and what we should be getting out of it.

However, since most people come into training always looking ahead to actually doing the work they signed up for, changing pace and doing a session about why women don't succeed in school as often as boys can seem tedious after a while. The truth is, however, that you can only take so much away from any one session, and the things that stick are usually the main points. If PC was simply to hand us a guidebook that contained all the info we have now, it wouldn't mean nearly the same thing.

In any case, tomorrow we find out about our sites. There's a lot of tension and anticipation about what's going to happen - it figures to be a very emotional day. I truly hope everyone makes peace with their placement!

Peace

John
